Before you get started: Make sure your file meets format requirements. Not sure? Check out this guide.

📁 Step 1: Upload your file

  • Go to Upload data from the left-hand menu.

  • Drag and drop your CSV file into the big green box or click Browse computer to upload.

  • Your CSV should have at least two columns:

    • One column for Latitude (e.g., 39.0997)

    • One column for Longitude (e.g., -94.5786)

📝 Tips & Notes

  • Coordinate format should be decimal degrees (e.g., 39.0997, -94.5786)

  • If your data doesn’t match, try re-uploading and selecting the columns manually

  • Use the “Smart Upload” option to get formatting help

Step 2: Check selected columns

  • After upload, the platform auto-detects your latitude and longitude fields.

  • Ensure the correct columns are selected in the dropdowns.

Step 3: Check results

  • Check the placement of your data points on the map.

  • Usually, if a point didn't match correctly, it'll be pretty easy to see.

  • Make sure to check the Table view for any errors.

  • If there's data that didn't match to a point on the map, you can either:

    • upload as-is, where the unmatched point won't show up on a map, or

    • adjust your original file to fix any errors and reupload.

Step 4: Confirm & save

  • Give your layer a name and description (optional, but encouraged).

  • Confirm that the numeric and additional fields (like location names or lat/long) are correct.

    • Consider updating labels so the label and capitalization is how you'd like them to show up in visualizations. Then you won't have to update labels manually when you build data components.

  • Click Done to save your data.

You're done!

You’ll see a confirmation screen with suggestions for what to do next — like sending your map or data to a report or dashboard.
