View information on data sources

Find more details about the data in our library.

When creating a map, writing a report, or developing a plan, it is important to know where the information is coming from so you can make better data-based decisions. This can include who collected it, when it was collected, and how it was organized/published.

Find source information

  1. Navigate to any place you can see mySidewalk data selection.
    1. As an example: go to Seek, then choose to select Data.
    2. data_selection
  2. Search for any data or use the filters to browse.
  3. Click the 'i' information bubble next to the source name. The Catalog page will open in a new tab.
    1. The Catalog page lists where the data came from, including timeframes and links to the original source. It also includes how the data is curated and enriched by the mySidewalk team. Geographic availability, demographic cuts and other valuable information are also listed.
    2. catalog_page

mySidewalk focuses on providing aggregated community-scale data rather than individual or company-level data.

Display source information for your visualizations

When you add mySidewalk data to your map, chart, or graph, the source attribution will automatically be added.

To turn this off or add more information for most visualizations:

  1. Open the component edit panel.
  2. In most components you will find Style, then a setting called Show source attribution.
  3. You can turn that off and/or add information in the Footnote box.

In a map, open the edit panel. Then select Settings under the Map Layers to find the Show source attribution checkbox and the Footnote text box.
